New SP basically work the same way previous Game Boy Advance models have and the option to play the same game, but to increase the amount of thoughtful design features.

The most obvious difference you’ll see is the lighting feature built into the display, so you can play in low light conditions without the large external games that too often leave the hot spot on the screen or fail to reach the corner. You can turn off this internal light to squeeze a little more time to play out of resources if you’re in that situation enough light to see the SP’s reflective screen.

Early Adopters Pick: March 2003. As the world’s smallest video game platform, The Game Boy Advance SP is also the first to use a built-in rechargeable battery.

Many decried the original Game Boy Advance’s reflective LCD screen and an external source of light. The Game Boy Advance SP main feature – optional back-lighting – the improvement of this well, but the property other features that make this system so surprisingly good.

With a clam-shell design, the screen is always protected from day-to-day scratches. A small button in the middle of the console turns on the back-lighting element for use in low light situations, such as in a moving car.

SP that comes with both a power adapter designed recharges built-in battery; prongs fold it to more easily in storage. Using the back-lighting less often will conserve battery power.

There is no headphone jack here, though Nintendo promises an adapter. In addition, the reduced number of SP is a little less comfortable for adults than the GBA hands, but may be more comfortable for small hands.

The cartridge port placement on the bottom is good for the GBA game console, as flush with the body of the console, but the old Game Boy Color carts will survive in a way that takes some of the ways used to.
