Review

If you do not have the DS, the DS Lite is better than a large initial investment. With the DS Lite, game made little simplar. DS Lite also comes with a truly GBA cartridge (called a “close”).

Perhaps the most welcome changes to the DS Lite is the screen. Original DS screen is not exactly bright. You can play the DS Lite as long as you played the original. Stylus that does not scratch the screen that is easy. In other words, the touch screen lasts a lot longer.

Some problems with the original DS still plague the DS Lite however. You still can not play Game Boy Color or regular Game Boy games on the DS Lite. Touching the touch screen with empty hands more dangerous than the stylus scratching the screen.

When the original DS launched, owners will note that it does not have very many good games availible. About the only good during the year 2004 has started Super Mario 64 DS. For casual gamers, Nintendo gives the DS and DS Lite is a fine improvement.

The Bad

- Game Boy Advance game slot leaves sticking cartridges and do not flush
- Shiny cobalt top still attract smudges – no biggie
- Report problems with the common hinge cracking from regular use, time will tell if it has been fixed
- Somewhat slow start-up with DS Download play
- Some cheapo accessories are Nintendo certified: Avoid Switch & Carry (BD & A), fixed with Pelican!
- Built-in configuration Limited (only military time format ????)
- Need to exit games to access key configuration settings like brightness, etc.
- Colors produced in limited number and sell out too fast!
